Rosie’s Ribbons | The Good, The Bad, and The Very Ugly in the Craft World » California Lead Free Jewelry Law
post Category: Helpful Info post postMay 10, 2008

The law is here.

California passed a new law effective March 1, 2008 that all jewelry must be lead free. Other states may be soon to follow.

What does this mean for jewelry makers?

Swarovski crystal contains approximately 32% lead to maximize refraction. This means that one can no longer sell jewelry made of Swarovski crystal to be shipped to California.

How do you know if your jewelry contains lead?
